his happiness was all just a mask of his, just hiding all the pain he felt when with the yellow scarves; all the beatings he's given, all the pain he's recieved. but with one certain person, he'd keep his serious expression on. that person is izaya orihara. part of the reason why he doesn't like izaya orihara was because he had hurt and betrayed him and saki. though, izaya had helped out the yellow scarves at certain points but, he was also technically part of the reason why saki got hurt. and everytime masaomi looks at izaya now, he sees his own past through his eyes. and it wasn't pleasant at all, which was also one of the main reasons he can barely keep eye contact with him. and part due was the fear he had from izaya.
masasomi's heart and emotions are fragile, though he easily covers up his emotions with his fake smile, showing to the others that everything was okay, when deep down, it never was. his heart had recieved scars from his dark past, and those wounds never healed.
all in all, even though masaomi's appearance deems something else, he is actually one of the most sensitive people you would ever meet. he is empathetic, sensitive, and caring to those around him. and he would do anything to keep them safe from danger.

"So... you're him right? Masaomi Kida?" The redhead the blond probably saw a ways away approached him. It wasn't like he was inspecting or observing him or anything along those lines. Actually, he was staring at him more out of curiosity over everything else. And he didn't even bother hiding it.
"Mikado talked about you a lot." The boy's lips pursed into that friendly smile as he extended his hand out to the other, "Yoshimune Miyoshi, but everyone calls me Yoshi. It's nice to finally meet you." The boy was genuinely harmless, but he didn't know if Masaomi would think of him as such, considering what he's probably been through.

it's been a bit hard to brush off this discomfort he feels at the name the redhead dropped off. just too much history at the moment, some which is still being sorted out. although, he's used to conveying a mask most of those he knew uses. "i'm surprised mikado's gone around making friends!" not really. this was just the plain vanilla of the assortment his raven-haired friend has done, "nice meetin' ya, too, yoshi."
he takes the hand and shakes it. a smile broadens along his lips. "so, where's the plumber?" he teased with a half-snicker.

Yoshi blinked, shrugging, "Doing his own thing, I guess?" He replied. Honestly, he didn't keep Mikado on a leash, "And for the record, he offered to show me around and I didn't really stop hanging out with him." He was speaking more than he used to, he noticed. Maybe being around Kida's two quiet friends might have done the trick. He didn't really know. Ah well. He didn't bother questioning it either.
